The Ronnie James Dio Committee was formed in 2010 after the passing of Cortland’s own Ronnie James Dio (Padavona) after a difficult battle with stomach cancer.
Ronnie became recognized internationally, not only as an incredible vocalist, but also as a world-class songwriter and record producer.
Through the years we’ve raised thousands of dollars in Ronnie’s name for The Ronnie James Dio Music Scholarship which is awarded to a local Cortland High School
senior who exemptify's Ronnie's spirit and pride of accomplishment!
We are proud to share that we’ve been able to award a one thousand dollar scholarship every year since its inception.
This has been made possible thanks to generous contributions and donations from the community as well as proceeds from our fundraising events.
This year on Sunday, September 15, 2024, starting at 12:00. We are having a concert at Rose Hall, 119 Church St. in Cortland, with many great bands to appear.
We are reaching out to our community for support and contributions at every level to continue our mission. We are dedicated to nurturing musical talent in Ronnie’s name.
